[edit] The John Corby Show
The John Corby Show stars Corby and Joe Bradley. Corby talks about recent local and national news in a lighthearted way, with help from Bradley's sarcastic interjections and choices of humorous background music. Corby is down-to-earth in what he calls a "normal guy" way. Oddly, many of the really funny lines aired on the show come from the "sidekick" Bradley.
The John Corby Show airs on weekdays on WTVN from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m..
[edit] Trademarks
- Always starts his show by saying "It's the big Monday/Tuesday/etc. show!" and Joe Bradley rings a bell.
- Callers frequently wish John "Happy Birthday" referring to a caller mistakingly wishing John "Happy Birthday" on a day that was not his birthday.
- His topics and comments are often stolen straight from the pages of Fark.com
[edit] The Big Bass Brothers
The Big Bass Brothers are John Corby, Joe Bradley, and Joel Riley, another popular WTVN host. They travel as a group for this humorous segment, in which the men review area restaurants and rate them according to the single experience. Restaurants receive up to five "bellies" instead of stars. Reasons for a low rating can be based on the food, service, ambience, or price, or just because of some petty excuse. The segment is sponsored by a popular area restaurant called City Barbeque.
The Big Bass Brothers segment airs on Fridays during the final hour of the program.
[edit] Other Information
- Corby hosted a sports talk show on KDKA-AM in Pittsburgh in the early nineties.
- John's wife Jennifer died unexpectedly on Friday, August 25, 2006. Strangely ironic... Joe also lost his wife, Sally Wagner, a well known former news anchor at the station, just over a year and a half earlier (Feb 10, 2005).
