John Aston

John Aston (born June 28, 1947 in Manchester, Lancashire, England) was an English footballer.

Aston was a forward who rose through the Manchester United youth system. His debut for the club came in 1965 against Leicester City. He went on to help the club win the 1967 League championship as well as the 1968 European Cup. Aston scored 27 goals before leaving the club in 1972 for Luton Town.

His father, also named John Aston, also played for the club in the late 1940 and 50's.

He had five sons, the first son was named John Aston, the other four were all named Patrick Aston (after his grandfather)

John is now (2006) a shopkeeper in Stalybridge, Greater Manchester.
