John Alves Arbuthnot

John Alves Arbuthnot JP (3 October 1802 – 29 August 1875) was a Scottish businessman.
Born in Queen Street, Edinburgh, the son of Sir William Arbuthnot, 1st Baronet and Anne Alves worked with Arbuthnot & Co. He founded Arbuthnot Latham & Co with Alfred Latham, who was partner from 1833 to 1875. Arbuthnot lived in Cowarth Park, Old Windsor, Berkshire.
On 2 June 1832, he married Mary Arbuthnot, daughter of George Arbuthnot in Marylebone, London. They had eleven children, four sons and seven daughters:
