Johann Gottlieb Georgi

Johann Gottlieb Georgi (1729 – 1802) was a German geographer and chemist.
Georgi was professor of chemistry at St Petersburg. He accompanied both Johann Peter Falck and Peter Simon Pallas on their respective journeys through Siberia. Georgi was particularly interested in Lake Baikal. He wrote a description of his travels in Bemerkungen einer Reise im Russischen Reich im Jahre 1772 (1775).
