Johann Evangelist Haydn
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Johann Evangelist Haydn (1743 — May 10, 1805), was a tenor of the classical era; the younger brother of the composers Joseph Haydn and Michael Haydn. He sang for a long time in the chapel of Joseph Haydn's patron, Prince Esterházy. "Hansl" Haydn, as he was known to his brothers, was apparently not a very accomplished singer of his own account, and was kept in the employ of the Eszterházys as a favor to his illustrious older brother Joseph, who served the Eszterházys as music director.
