[edit] NPOV
This encyclopedia entry for Dr. Wallach is slanderous at best... Dr. Wallach was nominate for the Nobel Prize in Medicine and knows what he is talking about... If you read up on him you will see what I mean. He is not a quack, or a snake oil salesman. -User:172.155.158.64
This article needs a serious overhaul, it started out as a promotional piece and now has gone 180º the other way, mostly by the edits of anons. Needs a more even-handed treatment. --Wgfinley 22:19, 20 February 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Food supply mineral depletion
I removed this item from the list of unfounded claims:
- The food supply is depleted of minerals, so to avoid deficiency diseases, we must take mineral supplements
Removed because there does appear to be evidence that mineral depletion is a fact:
- Nutrition Under Siege (Alex Jack - One Peaceful World Press, 1998), examined data published by the USDA ARS Nutrient Data Laboratory and concluded that a comparison of the data "show(s) a sharp decline in minerals, vitamins and other nutrients in many foods since the last comprehensive survey published over twenty years ago," which was attributed to "a steady deterioration in soil, air, and water quality."
- Historical changes in the mineral content of fruits and vegetables (Anne-Marie Mayer - British Food Journal, 1997), compared British data over a fifty year period and noted "significant reductions" in the levels of minerals in fruit and vegetables. [1]
- Changes in USDA Food Composition Data for 43 Garden Crops, 1950 to 1999 (Donald R. Davis, Melvin D. Epp, and Hugh D. Riordan - Journal of the American College of Nutrition, 2004) [2]
- Meat and dairy: where have the minerals gone?, (Food Magazine, 2006) [3]

[edit] trying for NPOV here
Found this page on the list of POV articles. I'll try to improve it a little (I don't know anything about the subject, so help is appreciated). - ßottesiηi (talk) 01:50, 22 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Proper References
- Statements made about a living person should be properly referenced. Negative comments require even better quality references. NATTO 08:34, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
- We could start by identifying the authority of Gerhard Schrauser - is Schrauser an MD? From his publication list he would appear to be an inorganic chemist. We should also cite the reputable peer-reviewed journals in which Wallach's claims have been published. I could not find any, only papers on diseases of mainly exotic animals (as expected for a veterinarian with postdoctoral work) Guy 12:13, 18 September 2006 (UTC)

- Dr. Schrauser is a Ph.D. Address for correspondence: Biological Trace Element Research Institute and Information Center, 11526 Sorrento Valley Rd., Ste. A. San Diego, CA, 92121. It also says professor emeritus - The information is included in the reference. The same question is valid for Portillo : Mr. Pontolillo is a research scientist with over ten years of experience in the fields of geology, organic petrology and organic geochemistry. Just in case you are, possibly, interested in the credential of one of his critics. NATTO 10:53, 20 September 2006 (UTC)

- I have added some peer-reviewed publications and read the "only" reference you have placed. It is not a scientific reference and when read in toto give a different impression then what want you present according to your world view. At least the journalist is presenting various points of view, unlike you. I agree however that this article needs a lot of work and Joel Wallace is not a subject I know so I have not done any significant editing here except pointing out the need for good references. - I have removed the last paragraph. It was poorly referenced and the text did not reflect the various points of view mentioned in the only reference provided. Some experts were in fact in favour of supplementation , all were in favour of a good diet, even those against supplementation said that there were situations were it was advisable.NATTO 12:13, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
