Joel Thiessen (born 1986) is an Australian football (soccer) player whose contract for A-League club Sydney FC finished on 29.10.06. He is a left-sided midfielder or defender, and has previously played for former NSL side Newcastle United.

In September 2006, Thiessen caught the eye of Sydney FC Coach Terry Butcher, and was placed on a one-month short-term contract the A-League club.

He also holds a Dutch Passport.
