Joel McNulty

Joel McNulty was one of the great hurdlers of the early 1950's. A great all around athlete, Joel participated in football and track for his high school. His sprinting ability ultimately gained him a scholarship to the University of Illinois. There he excelled in the 120y and 220y hurdles along with good friend Willard Thomson. He posted time in the 120y hurdles with 14.4 seconds in 1952. That same year in 1952 and 1953 he led the competition in the 220y hurdles with outstanding times of 24.8.

Joel later went on to practice law for Standard Insurance in Portland Oregon. Joel is happily retired and enjoys road cycling, woodworking, and the company of his family. He is married to his wife, Wilma. They have two daughters and a son along with two grandsons and two granddaughters.
