Joe Szakos

Joe Szakos started the Virginia Organizing Project in 1995. He has experience organizing both rural and urban communities. Szakos worked extensively with Kentuckians for the Commonwealth before heading up the VOP. Among other projects, he and his wife, Kristin, just finished a book on community organizing, WE MAKE CHANGE: COMMUNITY ORGANIZERS TALK ABOUT WHAT THEY DO — AND WHY, which will be published by Vanderbilt University Press in early 2007.
