Joe Posnanski
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Joe Posnanski (nicknamed "Poz") is a columnist for The Kansas City Star. He has worked at the Star since October 1996. A selection of his columns about the magic of sports is compiled in the book, The Good Stuff [1]. His newest book, The Soul of Baseball: A Road Trip Through Buck O'Neil's America [2] will be published by William Morrow & Company in February 2007.
Thanks to his wit, observational humor (necessary when having to cover the Kansas City Royals), and interest in both the human and analytical side of the game, many consider him one of the finest baseball writers working in the mainstream media. In 2003 and 2005, Posnanski was named the best sports columnist in America by the Associated Press Sports Editors. Posnanski has also won the Missouri Press Association award for best sports columnist in Missouri eight times, and was the first recipient of the Joe McGuff sports journalist award, presented by the Greater Kansas City Sports Commission.
He and his wife, Margo, live in Kansas City. They have two daughters, Elizabeth and Katie.
