Joe Lally

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Joe Lally (born December 3, 1963 in Silver Spring, Maryland) is a bass guitar player, primarily known for his work with Fugazi. He has also contributed occasional lyrics and vocals to Fugazi songs. He has worked with John Frusciante and Josh Klinghoffer on the album Automatic Writing as the group Ataxia. In early 2002, Lally joined ex-Frodus members Shelby Cinca and Jason Hamacher on a project originally called The Black Sea, which would change its name to Decahedron and release an EP and an album before Lally left the band.

As of January 2006, Mr. Lally is currently playing solo shows on bass with slight laptop accompaniment in various college towns. The songs appear to be originals and have a socio-political bent.

Lally's new solo album, There to Here, will be released in the fall of 2006. It features Jerry Busher, Ian MacKaye, Amy Farina, Guy Picciotto, and many others of the DC music scene.

He also runs the Fugazi Live series website[1].
