Joe Kelly (Freeholder)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Joe Kelly is an American Democratic Party politician from New Jersey, who serves on the Atlantic County Board of Chosen Freeholders. Kelly was elected Freeholder-at-Large in November 2004. Kelly is one of four members of the nine-member Board of Chosen Freeholders who are elected on an at-large basis to represent all of the more than 250,000 residents of the county. Kelly won election in 2003, defeating Republican Party incumbent John W. Risley, Jr.[1]. Democrat Kelly's victory helped break a decade-long period in which Republicans held every seat on the Freeholder board, which helped bring then-U.S. Senator Jon Corzine to particpate in Kelly's taking of the oath of office at his swearing-in ceremony on January 2, 2005[2].

Freeholder Kelly serves as a member of the Budget and Finance Commmittee[3], Facilities Committee, Human Services Committee, Intergovernmental Committee, Meadowview Review Committee, Public Safety Committee and the Roads and Bridges Committee. He is the Freeholder Representative to the Cultural and Heritage Advisory Board and the Parks and Environment Advisory Board.

Kelly is a lifelong Atlantic County resident who currently resides in Buena Vista Township.
