Joe Gittleman

Joe Gittleman (born in Cambridge, Massachusetts on April 6, 1970) is an American musician.

He is best known as the bassist for The Mighty Mighty Bosstones. Joe originally had played guitar in the Bosstones, but he switched roles with former bosstone Nate Albert when he realized he had a better bass than guitar. While in Italy in 1993 with the band Joe was stabbed just below the lung by an Albanian bootlegger. He has also played bass in Gang Green and Avoid One Thing. The band Avoid One Thing have since gone on hiatus, similar to that of The Mighty Mighty Bosstones. He provided background vocals for the Street Dogs 2005 album Back To the World. Most recently, Joe produced The Briggs' new album, Back To Higher Ground.
