Joe Anthony

Joe "the godfather" Anthony born in 1936 was a long-time DJ in San Antonio, Texas, USA. Most famous in the late 70's and early 80's at KISS-FM, he earned his nickname for introducing several previously unknown heavy-metal and hard rock bands.
Joe Anthony first hit the airwaves at KMAC-AM in the late 1950s, playing Chuck Berry records. During his long career, he also was heard on KTSA-AM, KSJL-AM and finally during the 1970s and 1980s at KISS-FM, from were he would bring many new acts like AC/DC and several Canadian band's such as Rush, Triumph, Mahogany Rush and Moxy to San Antonio, Texas at Armadillo World Headquarters and HemisFair Arena. He was also intrumental in bringing the Sex Pistols to San Antonio to play at Randy's Rodeo (one of only 8 US shows).
Joe Anthony died in 1992 at the age of 52 from lung cancer.
