Joanne Nelson was a British woman, born in 1982, who was murdered on February 13th, 2005 by her fiancée, Paul Dyson.

Miss Nelson was found in woods near Malton in North Yorkshire on March 24th, 2005, after a five-week search involving hundreds of police officers and volunteers. The 22-year-old had been strangled.

Dyson had first reported Nelson missing from the home they shared at Hotham Road North in Hull on February 14th, 2005.

After originally pleading guilty to her manslaughter Dyson changed his plea to being guilty of her murder during the trial at Hull Crown Court.

It emerged that Dyson launched the attack after a meaningless argument over cleaning at their home in Hull. He then strangled and killed her before driving 100 miles to hide her body.

Dyson will serve a minimum of 16 years in prison.
