Jo-Beth Casey
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jo-Beth Casey is the sister of TimeSplitters character Mary-Beth Casey. She first appeared in TimeSplitters 2 as a geeky Buffy the Vampire Slayer-style character who shocked her classmates when she brought in something very messy (possibly a demon or zombie head). Her bio indicates her show and tell class sessions are also popular, likely featuring such zombie trophies.
She later was remade as a teenage punk in TimeSplitters: Future Perfect who was Sgt Cortez's partner and interest during the Mansion of Madness and What Lies Beneath missions. She wears a loose red microskirt, a black shirt with 'Slut' written across it, a spiked collar, and teddy bear strapped to her back. During this time, she is captured by the undead, but ultimately rescued by Cortez. In the cutscene prior to the level, she mutters things about her being there to take pictures of zombies to be allowed to join a "gang." At the end of What Lies Below in Future Perfect, she tried to go along with Cortez , but muttered out, "Ah, too old for me anyways," after Cortez time jumped.
- In TimeSplitters: Future Perfect, Jo-Beth seems to adopt the use of Valspeak, a popular way of speech of the 1970's among teenage females, given the dialect she uses in Story Mode with the overuse of the words "like" and totally". Her and Jo-Barf Creepy's bio also indicate phrases used from that era as well.
- Note that the original TimeSplitters zombie level is set in 1965, whereas the Future Perfect level is set in 1994. While it does not rule out the possibility that both games/periods feature the same Jo-Beth Casey, the likely age difference may mean that the Jo-Beth in Future Perfect is not the same as in TimeSplitters 2- possibly the daughter or other relative of the original.
