[edit] Vittu, perkele, saatana
Hi! Why did you revert my very useful contribution in the article Motto? --213.138.128.13 08:12, 25 May 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Thank you!
Jni, just wanted to quickly thank you for your joining to the struggle against vandal Rovoam. I am very glad to see that the number of Wikipedians willing to fight against Rovoam is increasing. The firmer we stand united against him, the sooner will he understand the stupidity of his actions and will retreat. Thanks once again. --Tabib 09:42, May 25, 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Deleting VfD discussion redirects
I appreciate your help, but please don't delete the redirects to the VfD discussions I am moving. This important because, after all the moves are done, I need to ensure that any links to those discussions bypass those redirects and am going to run a process to fix those. -- Netoholic @ 17:19, 2005 May 27 (UTC)
- Ok, I will stop if that helps your cleanup efforts. I have only deleted the MediaWiki redirects that start with A, and for each of them I checked the history and "what links here", so there should be no surprises left behind. There were few minor special cases, but I think I got the A-batch in consistent state now. Feel free to drop a note to my talk if you need any help, especially with the readonly MediaWiki namespace. jni 17:27, 27 May 2005 (UTC)
-
- Oh, I'm sure I'll ned help when the time comes :). I kinda panicked when I saw red-links where I wasn't expecting them. My only concern is to, like I said, make sure links (except those on Wikipedia:VfD votes in the Template namespace) point to the new VFD subpages before they're deleted. As long as you checked out those MediaWiki ones, that's fine. I do appreciate the help, and I should be done with the page moves soon (all 814 :P ), and then I'll run a check to make sure all those redirects are bypassed, where needed. -- Netoholic @ 18:32, 2005 May 27 (UTC)

[edit] My RFA: Thanks
Thank you for your support on my RFA. Now that I have been promoted, I promise to be as hardworking and fair with the admin tools as I have been with the other areas here on Wikipedia. See you around and happy editing. Zzyzx11 (Talk) 00:44, 7 Jun 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Thanks for your support
Thank you for voting on my RFA. Have some pie! I was pleasantly surprised by the sheer number of supporters (including several people that usually disagree with my opinion). I shall do my best with the proverbial mop. Yours, Radiant_>|< 08:05, Jun 8, 2005 (UTC)
[edit] James Boyle
I have protected this page twice today - the page protection facility isn't working for some reason. Neither do I know how to block a range of IPs at once. Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated. -- Francs2000 | Talk 28 June 2005 11:06 (UTC)
- I have placed a range block there for 2 hours. Also Special:Blockip seems to be broken; there is a combobox instead of the familiar text field, and at least I couldn't figure out how to do a block for less than two hours. jni 28 June 2005 11:10 (UTC)

- Something tells me there are one or two bugs that need fixing in the MediaWiki 15.beta update... -- Francs2000 | Talk 28 June 2005 11:16 (UTC)
- Did you by chance protect it only against moves? I unprotected and reprotected it, and now it seems to work. jni 28 June 2005 11:26 (UTC)
- No I check that every time I protect something - I definitely protected it against vandalism. Then when it didn't work I unprotected and protected again. Still no joy. It's odd because my protection of another page just five minutes beforehand worked fine. -- Francs2000 | Talk 28 June 2005 15:29 (UTC)

[edit] Do you think the Edit Conflict safety is off?
I am thinking that the feature which warned of edit conflicts is lost. Take a look at these two edits you made which accidently removed some comments: [1] [2].
It appears that some childhood diseases need curing. Sjakkalle (Check!) 28 June 2005 12:22 (UTC)
- That looks bad. I didn't see any edit conflict warning on that page. I was using section editing. Thanks for fixing the missing comments! jni 28 June 2005 12:26 (UTC)
[edit] Anons
Note your warnings to 212.85.... this is a server for schools. Kids are not reasonable these days and probably revel in winding up admins. You'd best block the server and get people to sign up if you have more trouble.. Apologies for inconvenience to yourself.
- Problems with kids playing with Wikipedia from school computers are not a new phenomena. Unfortunately it is not possible to block the IP or IP address range without blocking logged in users coming from the same address(es). Maybe future versions of the software support such a feature. jni 29 June 2005 11:44 (UTC)
Please do not blank my talk page. I am not interested in your opinion about me anyway. Anonymous

[edit] About 212.85.15.77
Hello, Jni! I often get connected to the internet in public libraries in London and Essex. Now it is the third time that I get into en.wikipedia and find a "you've got new messages" banner without having logged using my nickname. In all the occasions with a similar warning to this. IP 212.85.15.77 is in East Ham Library (London E6), I am writing from it right now (computer number 5) and I am afraid that many different people usually get connected here. If the trouble persist I think you should block it but just for a while. I have got a question, though: could I log on wikipedia with my nickname even if the IP is blocked? -Piolinfax 4 July 2005 09:26 (UTC) (Moved this here from my userpage, just saw it today) jni 8 July 2005 10:04 (UTC)
- Unfortunately no. The software is designed so that blocked anons cannot circumvent the block by registering a new account. You need to switch to using a different IP address or ask some of our administrators to unblock the IP. jni 8 July 2005 10:03 (UTC)

[edit] Another Closed Mind Heard From
Don't much appreciate you calling me "one of the geatest kooks of the entire MA world" when you can't even spell GREATEST, LOL Your post only shows that your mind is as closed as the political assassins at Bullshido. How can anyone EVER get a fair shake from administrators like you? Have you had fun watching me answer all these stupid allegations? Did you even read what I wrote? If you had, you would have seen that I am the injured party here and yet have defended myself with both grace and honor in YOUR arena. Still not good enough for a closed mind, is it? LOL Get back in touch with me when you grow up. Right now you are just a waste of skin. I'm not going to tolerate YOU or any of these other jackasses calling me names and slandering me anymore. Wakarimasuka?
Ashida Kim
- Yawn, whatever you say but please note that I did not call you a kook, only that you are regarded as one by the MA community in large. Or do you dispute that? If you want to be taken seriously, why don't you just stop playing ninja, cease issuing challenges with silly rules and promoting your self-made-but-claiming-prestigious-background martial art? As for me, I have spent considerable time making sure Wikipedia articles about Japanese martial arts remain neutral and factually accurate and I intend to continue on that road. jni 9 July 2005 14:48 (UTC)
[edit] Wikipedia:Criteria_for_speedy_deletion/Proposal/3-C
Hello! Sorry to bother you, but since you voted on the earlier CSD proposal about unremarkable bands, it would be appreciated if you cast your vote for this version. It has been reworded to address concerns raised against the earlier wording. Please take a look at it and consider if you support or oppose it. Yours, Radiant_>|< 08:10, July 15, 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Moving Shin'ya Hashimoto to Shinya Hashimoto
I made the page empty because I tried to move Shin'ya Hashimoto to it's proper name, which is currently a redirect to the original name. However I cannot accomplish this because "Source and destination titles are the same; can't move a page over itself." I assume the ' is stripped somewhere in the code. Help is appreciated. ↪Lakes 07:22, 21 July 2005 (UTC)
- Thanks! Much appreciated.

[edit] Couple of recent deletes - back
Hi, Jni. Just noticing that a couple of deletes you recently did are back. Thought you might wish to know.
- Colin Watson is back already.
- Hapoel Haifa is also back. I suspect this one is back because an editor was editing it at the same time you were deleting it.
-- Furchild 10:36, July 21, 2005 (UTC)
- I deleted them again. Same crap, no improvement whatsoever. You are correct about the Haifa article; the edit conflict feature does not warn the editor if article has been deleted underneath after he began editing it but instead silently saves the edit. Thanks for the notice. jni 11:26, 21 July 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Thanks for the deletions
Thanks all around. I'll use the speedy deletion format from now on, promise.
Just wanted to clear up one thing: the 8 days of Christmas entry was spam; I just deleted it all and put in that replacement text asking for deletion. Thanks again.

[edit] Subpages deletion
Thanks for deleting the User:Durin/sailing-stub and User:Durin/yachtracing-stub, especially the latter. Silly typo on my part. --Durin 16:25, 28 July 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Carmine Agnello, Jr.
This article obviously doesn't come anywhere near qualifying under CSD A7, so I've restored it. Please use VfD for cases that don't qualify. --Tony Sidaway|Talk 20:03, 28 July 2005 (UTC)
- You are right. I must have overlooked the sentence that mentioned the TV show. jni 05:42, 29 July 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Major, Major cruft from two users
Hey Jni...another user dropped a note on my Talk page about 66.167.184.15 (talk • contribs) and Jlmcvay (talk • contribs). They contributed a rash of articles about their record label, so many that I'm not sure how to list them on VfD. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks. RasputinAXP talk * contribs 17:01, 21 August 2005 (UTC)
- You can nominate multiple articles in same VfD subpage just by listing their titles there, for example: ===[[Foo]], [[Bar]], and [[Quux]]=== or just putting a list there. I redirected some of the smaller articles to lengthier ones, that is certainly one possibility. I'm not particularly interested in evaluating notability of these bands and their members, you might get help for that from WP:MUSIC members. jni 06:16, 23 August 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Austria
Thank you for removing the phrase Mutter ist ein... from the Austria article. I actually got an e-mail about this from a potential contributor in Russia about this, forwarded to me by a mutual friend. Uncle Ed 13:47, September 9, 2005 (UTC)
- No problem, just got that when doing routine RC-patrolling. I don't even know enough German to understand the vandal's message, but otherwise that looked pretty clearcut insertion of random garbage. Cheers, jni 09:40, 14 September 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Avery Driscoll
Many pardons, and I'm not asking for an undeletion, but the article on Avery Driscoll was in no way an attack or vandalism. There was no hidden message, and certainly no ill intentions. It was an article, like there are many of on here, about a fictional character in a fictional world. If you deleted it because he is a homosexual fictional character, that is an attack on your part, and I am deeply offended.
-Scouter
I apologize, but I am deeply offended that you considered the article on the fictional character of Avery Driscoll, a homosexual teen boy, to be an attack in an "obscure namespace". If you had read the links, you would see there was no such thing, and if this is a problem with the fact that he is homosexual, then I am utterly appalled.
- I'm sorry but I have no idea what you are talking about. Could you please point it to me exactly what you think I have deleted? I can't remember all of my 7000+ deletions and couldn't find anything related by searching. Cheers, jni 09:40, 14 September 2005 (UTC)
[edit] The Machine
I'm going to unprotect in a few minutes; if it continues, it can be protected for a longer period. I'm also adding an HTML comment at the top warning users that any blanking may result in an automatic 24-hour ban (though it may not be smart to actually make any bans 24 hours, as they're probably University IPs). Ral315 18:21, 14 September 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Synergetics
This article is now in AfD: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Synergetics, I'm sure you'd like to comment there. Alf melmac 07:00, 15 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Suomenkieliset ylläpitäjät en-wikissä
Tuli vain mieleeni, että unohtui mainita, että myös User:Ulayiti on suomenkielinen ylläpitäjä en-wikissä. — JIP | Talk 11:03, 20 September 2005 (UTC)
- Itseasiassa huomasin jo hänet kun luin sinun talk-sivuasi, täytynee joskus tervehtiä! Hyvä että muutkin suomalaiset ovat jo löytäneet tämän englannin kielisen wikin; kun minä aloitin täällä pari vuotta sitten, en nähnyt ketään toista kuukausiin, mitä nyt Cimon avaro joskus piipahti. Itselläni on kanssa jonkunlainen "ei-paljoa-kiinnosta" Suomen kielistä wikiä kohtaan. Minulla on siellä tunnus mutta olen saanut aikaan ehkä pari kymmentä edittiä koko aikana kun taas täällä tulee helposti muutama sata viikossa. No, mukavaa vaihtaa muutama sana aina välillä äidinkielelläkin. jni 11:19, 20 September 2005 (UTC)
[edit] 1986 NBA Draft
Sorry about that, I was in the middle of an edit war when I had a hickup in the system.
WikiDon 07:07, 22 September 2005 (UTC)
Prior to the page blanking, there was quite a bit of hostility being thrown around here. WikiDon is trying, I think, to get his message through, he's making a bit of a hash of it.
brenneman(t)(c) 07:08, 22 September 2005 (UTC)
- I noticed that the article was in an unstable state and that WikiDon had contributed several good edits to it only after I had rolled it back. I'm currently patrolling Special:Shortpages to detect blanking vandalism. I apologize if my use of the rollback andi-vandalism device here scared anyone off. jni 07:17, 22 September 2005 (UTC)
