[edit] Martial Arts Project related
I noticed you have an interest in martial arts, so I was wondering, do you study one? --Aesopian 17:37, 21 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- I currently practise aikido and iaido (have been for about 3 years) but I'm mostly interested in koryu. No chance of practising any old style besides Muso Shinden Ryu in my area unfortunately, but I try to attend any kenjutsu workshops I can find and read about Japanese history etc.
- That's a very cool variety of martial arts. Sadly, I don't know much about any of them other than what I've read around, which tends to give a very one-dimensional view of the arts. It doesn't help that matter that I have never train in anything that could be considered "traditional" martial arts, since I train in Brazilian jiu jitsu (and soon Muay Thai kickboxing), and have a strong interest in mixed martial arts events and full-contact and submission fighting. I wonder if our experience and familiarity at different ends of the martial arts spectrum will help us balance out each other and make our articles NPOV, more so than if we both trained similar arts. It'll be interesting to see. :o) --Aesopian 14:43, 23 Sep 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Something to use
In case you haven't been using it already, feel free to add to the Talk pages of the articles you work on. It'll add this message:
Just wanted to make sure you know that. :o)
--Aesopian 14:59, 7 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- Thanks, I knew about that. I will use the template for new, significant, articles I create. Currently I feel our guidelines need improvement for budo related topics, for example, how to structure an article about various ryuha etc. so I might propose some additions in the project page (and in its Talk page of course). Hope you get the Luta Livre article going. jni 15:21, 7 Oct 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Vote For Deletion Request
Would you consider changing your vote on Vfd: St Ninian's High School, Giffnock, Scotland as there is now information included (which I ommitted in the original article) explaining why the school is 'notable' enough for WP inclusion --Cynical 12:27, 15 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- I'm always willing to change my votes when new evidence surfaces. I promise I take a second look at the article and its VfD entry in next Monday or Tuesday after other Wikipedians have voiced their arguments. (There is no hurry, this deletion is at least a five day process, since we don't have a consensus in this case.) School articles are problematic, because there are no clear guidelines what's notable enough for inclusion and what's not. They are decided case-by-case. I suggest you take a look at other elementary/high school deletion debates from the Wikipedia:Votes for deletion and Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/Old pages to get some familiarity with the arguments used for/against school related articles. jni 12:50, 15 Oct 2004 (UTC)
[edit] New Zealand Photographers
Would you consider changing your vote on Wikipedia:Votes_for_deletion/New_Zealand_Photographers? I have deleted the original non-content and added some proper content. Cheers - Drstuey 11:57, 27 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- Your edits are clearly an improvement to the article. VfD is already over and the page is still there, but please remind me again if it is ever resubmitted to deletion so I might support keeping it. Sorry for late response. jni 10:06, 10 Dec 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Opposition to Castro
Could you have another look at Opposition to Castro? I'm not sure what it was like when you looked at it (I gather is started out very POV), but at this point it looks to me like the nucleus of a good article. -- Jmabel | Talk 20:16, Nov 5, 2004 (UTC)
Will you reconsider your vote. Please check it out the article has improve a lot since you voted! Thanks and Regards SilentVoice 04:11, 6 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- I promise I will take a new look at that page during next few days. jni 15:53, 6 Nov 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Merging Marxian economics and Marxist school of economics
It's not clear which way round you want this merge to occur ---- Charles Stewart 19:10, 6 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- It is not clear to me either. Someone more knowledgeable about this topic should decide what to do with the merge (I might be wrong on that they should be merged, after all). I just happened to notice the poorly-linked Marxist school of economics by accident. Maybe that one could serve as a merge target, since its name is more in line with Historical school of economics etc. for articles about different theories. jni 19:33, 6 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- I think you're quite right that they should be merged. I said a bit more on the Talk:Marxist school of economics page ---- Charles Stewart 20:14, 6 Dec 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Article Licensing
Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 2000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:
- Multi-Licensing FAQ - Lots of questions answered
- Multi-Licensing Guide
- Free the Rambot Articles Project
To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:
- Option 1
- I agree to multi-license all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
- DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual
OR
- Option 2
- I agree to multi-license all my contributions to any U.S. state, county, or city article as described below:
- DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual
Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" with "MultiLicensePD". If you only prefer using the GFDL, I would like to know that too. Please let me know what you think at my talk page. It's important to know either way so no one keeps asking. -- Ram-Man (comment| talk)
[edit] Bullshido.com and the Bullshido article
Hello again Jni,
Please check out my latest addition at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Bullshido#Bullshido.com_websites
I felt I would be irresponsible to not bring this to your attention, as I consider you a major contributor to the martial arts articles, and share a goal of reducing "Bullshido" (McDojoism, psuedohistory, fanboyism) on Wikipedia.
--20:52, 30 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- See my reply in your talk page and/or relevant article talks. jni 08:34, 31 Dec 2004 (UTC)
Greetings. I've put a new note on the Talk:Bullshido page. Fire Star 21:29, 2 Jan 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Adminship
Heya, you've been annoyingly removing vandalism just a few seconds before me for quite some time now, we might as well make it official. I'd like to nominate you for adminship, would you be willing to accept? (Keep in mind that being nominated by me will probably guarantee you a few oppose votes; you could also self-nominate and I'd vote support of course.) --fvw* 00:47, 2005 Jan 13 (UTC)
- Thanks, gladly accept your nomination. Also replied on your talk. jni 10:17, 13 Jan 2005 (UTC)
- Good luck! --fvw* 21:03, 2005 Jan 14 (UTC)
[edit] Congratulations!
Congratulations! It's my pleasure to let you know that, consensus being reached, you are now an administrator. You should read the relevant policies and other pages linked to from the administrators' reading list before carrying out tasks like deletion, protection, banning users, and editing protected pages such as the Main Page. Most of what you do is easily reversible by other sysops, apart from page history merges and image deletion, so please be especially careful with those. You might find the new administrators' how-to guide helpful. Cheers! -- Cecropia | explains it all ® 21:06, 21 Jan 2005 (UTC)
- Congratulations! --fvw* 23:27, 2005 Jan 21 (UTC)
- Thanks to all 25 supporters! I'm glad to be a member of the cabal^H^H^H^H^H administrative crew. jni 10:35, 22 Jan 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Спасибо
Thanks for reverting vandalism to my user talk page. I am much obliged. BLANKFAZE | (что??) 00:46, 23 Jan 2005 (UTC)
- Oh, that was nothing, just one revert among many. jni 10:50, 23 Jan 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Thanks!
... for your help with my "deletion" error -- especially for taking the time to put it in the correct place. There was a suspected frostbite situation in the house at the same time I was being confused by the wrong page, so I had to leave it in a hurry. I'm very happy to see the problem solved! Zosodada 01:36, 24 Jan 2005 (UTC)
[edit] User:Chris 73 sucks
Hey, my first personal vandal! Now I really feel like an admin. Thanks for blocking that guy. -- Chris 73 Talk 09:41, Jan 24, 2005 (UTC) (the real one)
- You're welcome! That was my first username block, I'm slowly starting to feel comfortable with my new superpowers... jni 09:50, 24 Jan 2005 (UTC)
