Formed on 29 December, 1997, 'Jinx.com' is an online store targeted at gamers, geeks and Hackers (though there is no specific clothing style to hackers). The site features a wide variety of T-shirts, "hoodies", stickers, and other apparel. It is also well known for its forums.
The company publicizes themselves with their name stylized as: "J!NX", and the tagline: "Clothing for Gamers and Geeks.".
[edit] Business
Jinx is affiliated with the Attack of the Show program on the G4 channel. They provide much of the clothing that the cast members wear during live performances. Jinx commercials advertising its apparel can be found on this channel also. Jinx shirts have also been seen being worn by the people on the situation comedy Scrubs. Many of their shirts were also featured in the movie Grandma's Boy.
Jinx produces and sells official merchandise for many organisations, particuarly official RPG clothing, stickers and accessories. Examples include World of Warcraft, AdventureQuest and Dungeons and Dragons.
[edit] Jinx Forums
The site is well known for its forums, among the most widely visited computer-related forums on the Internet. Due to the forums' popularity, they receive a substantial number of newcomers to the "hacker" subculture; as a result, many consider the Jinx forums to be a forum for amateurs. Despite this reputation, the Jinx forums feature some very experienced and skilled programmers, system administrators, and computer hobbyists.
The forums cover a variety of subjects which include computer security, phreaking, networking, programming, modding (case, hardware, and software), hardware, gaming, administration and social subjects.
It also has a section on the forum to discuss topics such as gaming, music, and television.
As of the 7th of October, 2006, the total number of members registered in the forums is 26,362.
