Jini

Jini (pronounced like genie) is a network architecture for the construction of distributed systems. JINI originally stood for Java Intelligent Network Infrastructure, but it is now known simply as "Jini".
Originally developed by Sun, responsibility for Jini is being given to Apache under a free licence.
Coming from Sun, attempts to deal with some of the Fallacies of Distributed Computing by attempting to have code mobility, non-Protocol dependance, resiliency, etc.
