[edit] Momofuku Ando

Hey JimLiu, I was wondering if you could provide me with a reference from somewhere that shows that Ando was from Chiayi. I'm not partial to Tainan being listed--I can't really find confirmation of either city--but I'd like evidence for one or the other. -- OsgoodeLawyer 17:49, 25 April 2006 (UTC)

Hey it's the first time I'm using this function, so please let me know if I'm using it the wrong way. About the birthplace of Momofuku Ando: A newspaper in Taiwan (Liberty Times) had a memorial seris of Momofuku Ando when he was 95. According to the articles, Momofuku Ando was born in Pu-tzu, Chiayi (I'm not sure if you can read Chinese, that's 嘉義朴子).

Unfortunately, no, I don't read Chinese. I guess we'll leave your addition as it is, but if someone else changes it back, I don't know what we can do about it, since there's no online source for either city. As for your use of talk pages, you're doing fine. One tip is that at the end of a message you should sign your signature and date it by adding four tildes (~~~~) at the end. -- OsgoodeLawyer 13:02, 26 April 2006 (UTC)

I made a phone call to the Liberty Times yesterday asking their source of the birthplace. The in charged editor replied me that they've done some search of Momofuku Ando's birthplace so Chiayi should be correct. However I did some search on the internet and found some other sources indicate that the birthplace is Tainan. This birthplace thing would be tricky because Pu-tzu is located in the south part of Chiayi, which is very close to Tainan. I think maybe we could put both birthplace on the wiki page.
