Jimmy Nielsen (born August 6, 1977 in Aalborg, Denmark) is a Danish professional football (soccer) player, who has played every match for AaB Aalborg in the Danish Superliga since 1997. He is a goalkeeper, and on occasion he has featured in the Danish national team setup, though he has never been on the pitch.
Jimmy Nielsen started his career in local club "B 52 Aalborg" before signing for English club Millwall F.C.. He did not play for the club and moved back to Denmark, settling in at AaB in 1995. He made his debut in 1996, quickly becoming the starting goalkeeper, and Jimmy Nielsen has been one of the cornerstones of AaB ever since, culminating in the Danish Superliga 1998-99 championship, and he is the current team captain of AaB.
During a session with the Denmark national under-21 football team in 1999, Jimmy and some teammates went to the Munkebjerg casino in Vejle at night to gamble. Jimmy was subsequently excluded from all national team practices, a ban that lasted several years. This earned Nielsen the nick-name Casino-Jimmy. In April 2004, Jimmy Nielsen and fellow teammate David Nielsen raked up a debt of £160,000[1] with Aalborg bookies, though AaB director Lynge Jacobsen decided to help out both financially as well as giving the team councelling lessons for gambling addiction.
