Jimmy Lennon

Jimmy Lennon Sr. was one of the top announcers of the Boxing and Wrestling world. Known in the ring for his eloquent style of announcing and for wearing a tuxedo, Mr. Lennon was the ring announcer at the Olympic Auditorium in Los Angeles for many years. He appeared in 75 movies as a ring announcer, including "Raging Bull," "Rocky III," and "Main Event." He was the uncle of the singing Lennon Sisters, helping them with the launch of their career. This wonderful Irish Tenor was a favorite among the Hispanic Community as he was a master at the Spanish dialect, which he presented whenever introducing a boxer or wrestler with a latin name.

Complaining of heart problems, Mr. Lennon was admitted to St. John's Hospital in Santa Monica, California where he died of heart failure on April 20, 1992.

Mr. Lennon is survived by his wife, Doris, and four children, Scott, Robin Thomas, Kim Fitzgerald and Famous Boxing Announcer Jimmy Lennon, Jr.

Mr. Lennon is buried at Holy Corss Cemetery in Culver City, California.
