James "Jimmy" Brooks is a fictional character in the TV series Degrassi: The Next Generation, portrayed by Aubrey Graham. He is seen as the school jock. He also comes from a wealthy family, as he is shown with many high-end gifts. Despite this, Jimmy is one of the more open-minded students of Degrassi.

[edit] Dating Ashley
Jimmy's first relationship is shown to be with Ashley Kerwin. In which he almost had sex. However Ashley was beginning to get tired of Jimmy always being around her and planned to breakup with him on his birthday but delayed it until she took E and reaveled everything she thought about their relationship which left Jimmy angry with her and broke up the next day.
[edit] Taking Ritalin
Jimmy was determined to make the school basketball team. He convinced his friend Spinner to give him a pill of ritalin so he would have enough energy. In doing so, Jimmy had too much energy and ended up not making the team because he was too rough with the other players. And Spinner gets in trouble for not taking his ritalin and acting a "fool". Then he gets sent to the pricipal's office.

After Spinner being embarassed of smelling, he makes Jimmy promise to always tell the truth, no matter what. This causes them to begin to over critisize each other. It also causes Jimmy to first offend, then later be thanked by Ashley for saying her poems are trying too hard to be poetic.

After Ashley had gone goth losing all her friends,She and Jimmy tried to try dating again but they just couldn't connect anymore and finally ended their relationship.
[edit] Spinner and the Jimmy Feud
Spinner was Jimmy's best friend until Spinner got jealous of all the new stuff that his father always gave him. So when he got a new mp3, Spinner couldn't take it and decided to steal and sell it. This caused a feud that made Spinner get a job in school cafeteria.

[edit] Dealing with Marco's Homosexuality
Once Marco began to tell people he was gay, he started losing friends. Jimmy was one of the few, and the only guy, to support Marco and to be his friend. He also helped him recovering from a hate crime.

Jimmy dated Hazel when they had to go to the saturday detention. When Jimmy dares Hazel to kiss Toby he regrets it, and then they kissed. After that, they're always seen as a couple.

[edit] Befriending Rick
Once Rick, the boy everyone at Degrassi hated, was back at Degrassi, Jimmy would tease and bully him like everyone else. But after Jimmy was put on an acedemic team with Rick, he started to befriend him more, along with Emma and Toby. He begain to defend Rick from everyone.
[edit] Getting Shot
Despite befriending Rick and defending him, Jimmy was framed for a public humiliation of Rick. Rick then brought a gun to school and shot Jimmy. This left Jimmy a paraplegic, and confined to a wheelchair.

After returning to school in a wheelchair, Jimmy learned that his best friend Spinner was the one who framed him for the prank on Rick, which led Rick to shoot Jimmy. Jimmy then disowns Spinner as his friend, along with the rest of Degrassi.

[edit] Trying to Return to Sports
Now in a wheelchair, Jimmy tries to return to the world of sports by playing wheelchair basketball. But after he begins to befriend and fall for Ellie, Jimmy realizes that the world of sports is over for him, and he wants to move on to other things.

After spending a lot of time with Ellie, Jimmy finds himself falling for her; even though he is still with Hazel. This draws Jimmy in two directions. But after Hazel realizing how much time Jimmy spends with Ellie, she ends it with him. And at the end of the school year, Jimmy approaches Ellie about his feelings. Ellie tells him she is sorry and that she doesn't feel the same way.

From being out of school so much due to being sick from the shooting, Jimmy failed his grade 12 year and is stuck behind another year to finish high school. He also takes this time to rekindle his friendship with Spinner, whom he has now forgiven.

[edit] Staying a virgin
After Ashley's return from England, Jimmy and Ashley see old love in each other. However, after attempting to take a step forward with sexual relations, Jimmy realizes that his physical damage has causes him to have erectile dysfunction. This frustrates Jimmy to the point that he says he no longer wants to see Ashley. Despite this, Ashley says she still wants to be with him, and find other ways to show each other love.
[edit] Jimmy's Dad Troubles
Jimmy and Spinner go into a t-shirt business. While blindly Spinner thinks they will make millions, Jimmy knows that the more he gets involved, the more he realizes the t-shirt business is about him rebelling towards his dad. Jimmy then realizes that although he's tried to fix things up with his dad before he really needs to get the message this time as he can't keep living like this.
