Jim Taggart is a character on the American science fiction drama Eureka. He is played by Matt Frewer.

Jim is Eureka's "biological containment specialist", which means he catches whatever needs to be caught. If it walks, talks, eats, breathes, or bleeds, it falls within Taggart's domain. He claims to be an Aussie, and often butts heads with the sheriff and townsfolk who refuse to appreciate the delicate and unique wildlife situation in Eureka. Taggart knows every breed of animal, bird, and insect like the back of his hand, and he's got the tools to handle any situation. He appears to have an obessesion over catching Lowjack, the dog that randomly appears all over town, and remarks that the dog is evil incarnate. He also got upset when he found out that Jack Carter broke out of his hand built containment cage.

[edit] Trivia

  • Taggart is a cryptozoologist as a hobby, which is as Jo claims, what makes him one of the most knowledgible animal specialists.
  • Taggart appears to be quite fond of Jo, though whether or not they share a deeper relationship is unclear ("Primal").
  • Taggart is also the town veterinarian ("Primal")

[edit] Notes

  • Jim Taggart is also the name of a character in Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged. It has been remarked that the town of Eureka bears a very close resemblance to Galt's Gulch, the hidden town in that novel.
