Jim Fletcher was a character in Prisoner from 1979 to 1982. Mr Fletcher was played by Gerard Maguire.

Jim held the position of Deputy Governor of the Wentworth Detention Centre and was the first male to have such a high ranking position within the jail. A former army man, Jim was a strict disciplinarian, though not above favouritism amongst the prisoners, usually singling-out attractive, middle-class prisoners as superior to others.

He was brought to Wentworth the fill the role of Deputy Governor when former incumbent Vera Bennett was demoted for frequently defying governor Erica Davidson. Though Jim and Vera both held similar views on how prisoners should be treated they remained intense rivals much of the time, and Vera always maintained that the Deputy Governor's role should be filled by a woman.

Fletcher was married to Leila and had two children Nicholas and Matthew, but through much of his time in the series was estranged from his family. All three of his family were killed in a bomb blast organised by Geoff Butler and unknowingly carried out by Michael Simpson during episode 109.
