Jim Crocodile Cook (ジム・クロコダイル・クック Jimu Kurokodairu Kukku?) is a fictional character in the anime series Yu-Gi-Oh! GX (Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters GX in Japan). His given name in the Japanese version is derived from the name of Crocodile Dundee protagonist, Michael J. "Crocodile" Dundee, and his surname from Cook, a South Australian railway station.

[edit] Character

Jim Crocodile Cook is a new student hailing from South Academy (South School) who enters Duel Academy (Duel Academia) in the the third year. He is an expert geologist and archaeologist, having taken part in an excavation of a tyrannosaurus in the past, and has a crocodile named Karen, initially believed to be a fake by Vellian Crowler (Cronos de Medici) and Bonaparte (Napoleon), who he carries around in a specially made backpack wherever he goes. Jim regards Karen as "family," and does not consider her a pet. He wields a Duel Disk in the shape of a boomerang. In the Japanese version, he speaks frequently in Engrish.

During the duel between Jaden Yuki (Judai Yuki) and Austin O'Brien, Karen began acting strangely due to electromagnetic waves coming from within the jungle. Meeting up with Jaden and his friends after Karen inadvertently attacks Tyranno Hassleberry (Tyranno Kenzan) the next day, he and the group venture deep into the woods to investigate. Seeing another opportunity to claim duel energy, Professor Cobra reactivates the signals, causing Tyranno to act wildly and face Jim in a Dis-Duel. Although the duelist quickly regains his senses, he lashes out at Jim for disturbing his dinosaur monsters, but is eventually defeated.
