Jill Morrell
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jill Morrell was the girlfriend of John McCarthy who was also a tireless and effective campaigner for his release from kidnappers who held him in Lebanon for more than 5 years.
Morrell kept McCarthy's name in the public domain with a very effective campaign to free McCarthy, who was a journalist on his first foreign assignment in Lebanon.
After McCarthy's release on August 8, 1991,the public hoped for a fairytale ending to their relationship. They did stay together until 1994, but John met and eventually married a BBC photographer, Anna Ottewill in April 1999. Morrell published No Smoke Without Fire: A guide for victims of a miscarriage of justice in 1999.
