Jiangzhou

The Chinese city of Chongqing was once also called Jiangzhou.
The Jiangxi province of China was once called Jiangzhou (江州).

Jiangzhou (Chinese: ; pinyin: Jiàngzhōu) is a city located in Xinjiang County of the province of Shanxi in the People's Republic of China.

The Zen monk Yaoshan Weiyan (751-834) was born in Jiangzhou. The 17th century scholar and official Han Lin (韓霖, 1601-1649) was also born there.[1] It is also the home of the Jiangzhou Drum Troupe (also known as Shanxi Jiangzhou Drum Art Ensemble), China's most famous traditional percussion ensemble, which was founded in 1987.[2]
