Jha

The word "Jha" is a surname of some people who originate from a state of India called Bihar. They are Maithili Brahmins.
"Jha" surname also exists among people who are Nagar Brahmins, originated from Gujarat and dispersed to other states as Rajasthan in 14-15th century. Their roots are nowhere related to Maithili Brahmins. Jha is also used by some Bhumihar Brahmins who hail from the Mithila region in Bihar.
