[edit] About Me

I am currently studying Software Engineering at the University of Sheffield, which I am really enjoying so far. There is a lot of work to do, but that's university for you!! In my first year, I stayed in Tapton Hall of Residence at the university, but now have a house with some of my friends from halls.

In my spare time, I like to develop computer software and build websites. jgxenite.org is a culmination of all these projects. I am also in the process of developing intranet projects for Greenhead College.

I am also a very keen dancer. I am quite active within the Sheffield Universities Dancesport society, dancing at both the social and competition classes, and occasionally taking part in inter-varsity competitions. I took part in my first competition at the University of Leicester on Sunday, 13th November 2005, with my dancer partner Inessa; our second competition at the Sheffield Social at the University of Sheffield; and our final competition at the University of Manchester. Our results can be found below.

This year, I am dancing intermediate with my new dance partner, Sarah. Our first competition will be at the University of Leicester on Saturday, 11th November 2006.

• No finals this time, but it's all good practice!
• I got to meet Andrew Cuerden and Hanna Haarala, who demonstrated at the event.

• Alison (president 2004/2005) contacted me 5 minutes before a lecture asking if I would run for treasurer - why can't I say no? I was later voted in as the treasurer for 2006/2007.
• I also ran for the one of the positions on the newly formed webteam (after a suggestion I made on the forum). I was voted in as one of the webteam for 2006/2007, along with Maddie, the existing webmistress.

• No finals again, but we got recalled a few times.
• I also danced the all-male rumba with Ben. That was a lot of fun!

[edit] Leicester University Dancesport Competition, 11th Nov 2006

• Sarah and I danced:
  • Novice Cha Cha
  • Novice Waltz
  • Open Foxtrot
  • Team Cha Cha
• We didn't get in those dances, but I also danced the All-male Rumba and came third!
• Sheffield came joint first (again!) with Leeds in the Beginner Team competition.

  • Non-beginners Cha Cha
  • Open Foxtrot
  • Team Waltz
• We didn't get any finals those dances, but we did get recalled in the Mayfair Quickstep and Team Waltz.
• We are now taking a well-deserved rest from dancing until after Christmas.
