[edit] Kathy Watt
Great job on rewriting the Kathy Watt entry. This was long overdue. --Takver 00:17, 6 May 2005 (UTC)
- I have just created articles on Australian cyclists: Katie Mactier, Sara Carrigan, Oenone Wood which you may wish to do some copyediting on. They are basic articles based on their Australian Cycling Federation profiles. --Takver 07:21, 12 May 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Scottish clothing
Glad you like the image for belted plaid. I have some more sources around; will do a bit more tweaking as time permits. I think we should also add Dunbar's "The Costume of Scotland" as a reference - it may actually still be in print. PKM 6 July 2005 23:01 (UTC)
[edit] MTB World Championships (cycling)
I have no intention of merging (or editing) any of the other women's cycling articles, as I have little interest (or knowledge) in women's road / track cycling etc (though I notice that some of them are nearly orphans, maybe add a link to them from the main/mens articles?).
But seeing as for mountain biking, the world championships for men and women take place at the same venue, on the same day, over the same course etc, I don't think it's necessary to have separate articles for them. If the articles become too long I would suggest splitting by discipline (XC, DH etc), or by year in a similar way to Cycling at the Summer Olympics or IAAF World Championships in Athletics. But I don't think they are anywhere near too long yet.
As for the name, I am going by what the UCI use (see their website), and google results show that be the the most common. The official name appears to be UCI Mountain Bike World Championships, but common usage is often without UCI in front. --Vclaw 19:37, 15 September 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Grande Boucle
Interestingly, until I saw your page in the women's race, I did not know that "Grande Boucle" could refer to anything but the men's race... It is the most common nickname for the Tour in French, and is also used in other languages in surrounding countries. An English-only search on google on "Grande Boucle" turns up quite a few references to the men's Tour, although not as many as to the women's race; for example on http://www.roadcycling.com/news/article1386.shtml, which is American, I think. So it is used, but apparently not nearly as widely as here in Europe. Eugene van der Pijll 23:39, 6 December 2005 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Meetup/Seattle3 could sure use your comments on location: so far we have no clear consensus. -- Jmabel | Talk 00:04, 10 December 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Joan of Arc
I don't suppose you're bold enough to try the main artice? It's been a battleground since long before I joined Wikipedia and User:Rei has finally worn me down. I've decided to lay low and wait for others to address the POV contribution she protects so aggressively. For about two months I hoped to raise the article to featured status, but the disputes finally convinced me that my time is better spent elsewhere (I created an unrelated piece from scratch and got it onto featured lists in less time). Good luck if you feel like being bold: it's among Wikipedia's more visited pages. Durova 19:01, 25 January 2006 (UTC)

- Good news: the article has been stable for a month and it's up for featured article status. You might want to give it a fresh look. I've raised the references to 70 footnotes. Voting is at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Joan of Arc. You've been a great contributor to related topics and I value your opinion. Regards, Durova 00:16, 2 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Palmares template
I replied to your message on my talk page.
Also, I remember seeing a photo of several women racers on trainers, possibly giving an interview or something. Bicycle trainer was recently created, and could use a photo. --Christopherlin 04:02, 31 January 2006 (UTC)
Ping. Replied again. --Christopherlin 04:22, 1 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Vestiarium Scoticum and John Sobieski Stuart
Thanks for your nice message.
Great article on the VS. I like the way you make it clear that it is both bogus *and* a tradition in itself. And I see the article is expanding . . .
Came across the article by chance and remembered I knew some related stuff about the Allen/Stuart brothers. You're right that using JSS as the page title does raise questions - and yet it is the name he's best-known by. The Oxford DNB has the brothers listed under Stuart - and they published nearly everything under that name. I am rather new to WikiP so am not sure of conventions, but I have seen other people listed under their pen-name if it's the best-known name. Perhaps I should do some redirects from alternative names? Perhaps you will have ideas about expanding or changing this article? Or you may be busy with other things.
Fantastic article on Highland Games! Not a subject where I would have much to contribute - even if you hadn't done it all already. The only things which cropped up in my mind were about slight differences between North American HGames and Scottish ones. I don't think there would usually be a ceilidh first (perhaps later in the day?) in Scotland, and tug-of-war is common. But I am no expert! HJMG 22:43, 9 March 2006 (UTC)
Hi - now I see what you mean about categories - anyone who can read will surely not be misled by the Sobieski category. Keep on "demythologizing". Sounds as if you have expert knowledge of 19th century HG. Good luck with the red links! HJMG 18:19, 10 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Talk:Joan of Arc
Thank you for your efforts at making peace. Many similar efforts have been tried and have failed. He has driven multiple articles into mediation and page protection. Admin has blocked him repeatedly. Since I became an editor last year I have never seen him cite a proper reference. The few citations he has attempted to make turned out to be spurious. I have started a user conduct RfC. This isn't something I like to do, but trust me on this: the article lost several good editors because of him. Durova 20:56, 10 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Joan of Arc in art
Would you consider collaborating on an effort to raise this to featured list status? I think we're halfway there already but I don't expect to take it all the way myself. Regards, Durova 17:52, 16 March 2006 (UTC)
- Mainly we need to track down dates and standardize the format. I'd say the page is already 85% of the way there. Tables are favored at many FL candidacies. I can implement that to the whole page if we assemble the chronology. The page also needs a better introduction and, where appropriate, additional entries. Wikipedia:What is a featured list? gives the full standards. Other issues are minor, such as clarifying fair use rationale for a couple of images. Do you think the page title should change? I've considered Cultural references to Joan of Arc as an alternative since many people don't rate pop culture as art. Durova 00:05, 17 March 2006 (UTC)
To be totally up front, I've been shy about pursuing this because one of the standards for FL is that the page is reasonably complete. So much cultural material references Joan of Arc that it's impossible to list it all. They get around a similar dilemma at The Oz books. Our list seems to be the best of its kind on the Internet: I haven't seen another that even attempts to catalog this depth of pop culture references. Durova 03:19, 17 March 2006 (UTC)
- Oops, I forgot to mention that we also need external sources. I have a book reference for some of the film entries. We don't need to verify every line, but where possible please continue adding non-Wikipedia links. Thanks! Durova 19:14, 17 March 2006 (UTC)
It's on Wikipedia:Featured list candidates now. The only vote so far is in support. You can vote if you like, but it's good form to disclose that you also contributed. Cheers. Durova 22:42, 23 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Clans of Scotland Wikiproject.
Hello, there. I'm going around to all the listed participants of the Clans of Scotland WikiProject, asking for a short update on whate they're up to as far as the project goes. I want to see if this project is still viable, and I'm wondering if anyone else is still actively participating. Please see Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Clans of Scotland#Status.3F. [edit] Kilt inuse tag
I was under the impression that the inuse tag was telling editors not to edit, because it would cause edit conflicts with the current main editor. I've used the inuse tag before, and can understand how offending it would be if somebody just removed it. Sorry. -- Mac Davis] ⌇☢ ญƛ. 00:11, 30 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Grande Boucle
Hi, maybe you can answer a question at Talk:Grande Boucle about the 2005 and 2006 races with this name. Are they connected to the earlier ones? Should the winners be on the same list? Eugène van der Pijll 21:04, 5 August 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks. I made some additions to the article based on your comments. Eugène van der Pijll 22:24, 5 August 2006 (UTC)
