[edit] Organization and ownership

The brand broadcasts in the United States as a block of programming on the Toon Disney television channel. In Europe and Latin America, the brand broadcasts as television channels in their own right, owned by subsidiary companies Jetix Europe and Jetix Latin America. These channels are branded as Jetix. All previous Fox Kids channels were rebranded to Jetix by January 2005. The United Kingdom and Ireland channel became Jetix on 1 January 2005 at midnight.

The European subsidiary, Jetix Europe NV, is listed on the Euronext Amsterdam stock exchange. [1] However only 25% of the shares are listed, Disney owns the remainder. The Latin American company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Disney.

Following the August 31st broadcast, ABC Family droped the Jetix block, which will continue to air on its exclusive home, Toon Disney. This move has been met with much negative criticism from Toon Disney's older viewers, for it was because of Jetix that Toon Disney had removed the animated programs it was originally intended to show.

Starting September 10th at 6:03 am, viewers of Family Channel in Canada can now watch Jetix in Canada. This new block will replace the current "Power Box" block on Family, and will introduce "Get Ed" and "Oban Star Racers". "W.I.T.C.H." and "Power Rangers Mystic Force" remain unchanged, however, Retro "Spiderman" and "Super Robot Monkey Team Hyper Force Go!", will no longer be shown at this time. Jetix will air from 6:03 am until 7:45, commercial free.

[edit] Fox Kids

Before October 2001, Fox Kids was a 50-50 joint venture between News Corporation and Haim Saban. The ABC Family Channel was at that point known as the Fox Family Channel, and all the channels now branded Jetix were called Fox Kids. Fox Kids itself had been founded in 1996 as a merger between the US Fox Children's Entertainment and Haim Saban's Saban Entertainment. In October 2001, Saban and News Corp sold the group to The Walt Disney Company. The brand announced the change of name to Jetix in January 2004.

Until 2002, the brand had the rights to the children's programming slot on the Fox Broadcasting Company television network, however after the sale, that slot was sold to 4Kids Entertainment. The slot, initially known as the "FoxBox" is now named 4Kids TV. However some Jetix programs are broadcast on the ABC television network, under the ABC Kids brand. It is also broadcast on the Toon Disney network, much to the chagrin of many of the network's older viewers who prefer the older shows the network was originally intended to show

Notably, all shows produced before the sale to Disney in 2002 (including the pre-2002 Digimon and Power Rangers shows) still have the Saban and Fox Children's Productions logos (one example is The Tick which still has the latter logo). In Europe most old Fox Kids shows retain their original Saban and Fox logos, but the Buena Vista International logo is put after them (although, very often when such a show is aired on Jetix's European channels, the film stops right before it).

[edit] Magazine

Future Publishing publishes the official Jetix Magazine. Published every four weeks the magazine features puzzles and features based on the channel's characters plus a six page Power Rangers comic. The magazine also comes with a free DVD featuring shows from the channel.
