[edit] Dessert Beauty

Why isn't there no mention of Dessert Beauty? Jessica Simpson is a co-founder of the company. ThisIsMyName 08:11, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Jessica's Eating Habits

According to a thoroughly sourced tabloid, Simpson's favorite pasttime is feasting on cheese fries in public. She enjoys washing down the heaping servings of cheese fries and other greasy foods with pitchers of sweet tea. She reportedly has had some legendary sessions at the dinner table proserpine Nov. 28 2006.

[edit] Media Mogul

The single for "The Dukes of Hazzard's" high debut on the pop charts proves that she can be a force to be reckoned with, and most likely we will see her album sales skyrocket in the near future.

How do we know her album sales will sky-rocket in the near future? i think this should be striked from the record simply because it could be a flop just like all the rest of her albums. We dont know about the future and this is wishful thinking and not nuetral at all.
I agree with the above poster; why would her album sales suddenly sky rocket? Besides, The Dukes of Hazzard soundtrack isn't even specifically 'her' album, it's just for the movie that she stars in, so naturally, being that Jessica has always primarily been a singer, she contributed to it. Wether the soundtrack flops or not shouldn't really be much of concern for her, seeing as it isn't going to affect her record sales. - Triggy, Jul. 15.

[edit] POV anyone?

This entire article is so POV it isn't funny. Who wrote it? Jessica Simpson's publicist? A huge part of her "celebrity" revolves around people's revulsion and dislike for her and nowhere is this mentioned in the article.

Oh yes, because adding something to the article such as "OMGZ PEOPLE F1ND H3R TOTALLY REVOLTING!!11onetwo" wouldn't be P.O.V. - Triggy, Jul. 15.
from WP:POV - "Some contributors to Wikipedia abuse the term POV, taking it as an antonym to "NPOV", implying that a particular article or passage is affected by an editor's point of view. This is not what the term POV means, and should be avoided. The term they are groping for is "biased"." - --Dem 13:42, 10 March 2006 (UTC)

What about the 'Payola' revelations of her record company inflating her sales figures? Many negative reviews for 'Dukes' single out Simpson's performance for ridicule.

[edit] Missing iraq Footage

can anyone make an article section about this? I mean it's very intresting, she WENT TO IRAQ and for some reason ABC didn't air it.

She went to Iraq??? WHAT???? Please provide some kind of proof of this, it's the first time I've heard of something like this. Capt.Nero

I wasn't the original poster, but here's the story: http://www3.contactmusic.com/news/index16.htm --rob 07:14, 11 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Butt goes flat??

Is this really needed for an encyclopedia? Was this ever a "frenzy"? One short article is referenced, this doesn't make a "frenzy" by my definition. What are other's thoughts? Dismas|(talk) 14:04, 14 September 2005 (UTC)

This was all over the press --Archier 15:56, 14 September 2005 (UTC)
This has no significance whatsoover. Also, even if the story is mentioned, I don't accept the idea of having an entire section titled "Butt goes flat". --rob 22:04, 14 September 2005 (UTC)

This is not of any relevance to the article. The "butt flat" thing is a tabloid story that has no significance to biographical and factual information about Jessica Simpson. This page is for educational purposes, not entertainment. --qlkbz 10:30, 1 November 2006 (CST)

[edit] nicer photos?

does anyone have a nicer photo of jessica? the lead pic doesn't do her justice

I put the pic there, and I'll be honest, it's not her best. It's main attribute, is that it's a public domain picture. Having 6 out of 6 images copyrighted, seemed like a stretch of "fair use". If somebody does change the lead pic, I would ask that the old photo be kept in the article (it's the only one for her USO tour which is a signficant thing she's done). Also, if a "fair use" image is used as replacement, it should have a good tie-in with the content of the article (not just look pretty). Although, ideally, we can find an even better PD picture. --rob 21:06, 15 September 2005 (UTC)
do you guys know what the limits are on fair use for something like this? Norah Jones and Madonna both have non-PD images up. Image:Norahjonesandoldcarpicture.jpg has a copyright notice there. maybe we could just move this PD simpson pic down a bit.
Actually, I don't know the limits, and I think few do. There seems to have been a substantial increase in efforts to remove many fairuse images from wikipedia (I know this is old news to some). A couple were speedy deleted from this article already. Currently, the target is unknown sources, or ones with no appropriate tag. But, it sounds like even greater restrictions may occur on fairuse. It's actually, a mistake to go by "precident" of other uses of fairuse images, since lots of them may get deleted, it seems. I think the Image:Norahjonesandoldcarpicture.jpg, as a fairuse image, which isn't an album cover, is probably an example of what not to have, if/when there are PD options available. --rob 02:52, 20 September 2005 (UTC)
I rethought the pic, and decided that even though the album cover looked nicer, the album cover belongs with discussion of the album, in order to qualify as fairuse. Hopefully somebody can find an even better PD or GFDL image. --rob 11:02, 1 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Jessica Simpson/Nick Lachey Separation

I am sorry to hear about the Jessica Simpson/Nick Lachey separation. And on thanksgiving too! They could have at least waited until after the holidays.

Call me a romantic, but I thought they would hang in there longer. I figured Jessica’s christian upbringing and the fact that they waited until they were married to consummate their relationship meant that they had a faith in the institution of marriage and the family, and would remain committed to one another for better or worse.

The Simpson family, although reportedly christian, are obviously backsliden, and have fallen prey to the worldly trinity of sex, money and power.

“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.” (1John 2:15-17)

May be it is because I am the child of divorced parents, but I always find it sad when celebrity couples divorce. (Or when they dump their faithful spouse and children for a trophy wife like Lance Armstrong appears to be doing.)

My advice for Nick Lachey...

“Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth... let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love.” (Proverbs 5:18-19)

[edit] why the reorg

this used to be nicely broken into music and on screen career, but now everything is under music, even "newlyweds" and "dukes". was there any good reason for this? -69.110.60.249 21:19, 24 November 2005 (UTC)

it's different now , thanks to me --Hotwiki 15:24, 29 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Vocal profile removal

I came upon the page from Recent Changes and found multiple changes of the 'Vocal Profile' section. None of them appeared to have a source, so I just cut it. If anyone can give a source (or if they did and I missed it like an idiot), feel free to re-add the section. Deltabeignet 17:37, 14 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] plastic surgery

Did Jessica get plastic surgery?

I think it's obvious —Orz 06:12, 18 December 2005 (UTC)

who cares

[edit] muscular legs

why are her legs so muscular. does she do some kind of sport

She always goes to gym, that's why--Hotwiki 12:30, 27 January 2006 (UTC)

the look mighty fine to me, as does her ass;)

[edit] Featured Music Project evaluation

Jessica Simpson has been evaluated according to the Featured Music Project criteria, most recently affirmed as of this revision. The article's most important issues are listed below. Since this evaluation, the article may have been improved.

The following areas need work to meet the criteria: Lead - Comprehensiveness - Pictures - Audio - References - Format/Style
The space below is for limited discussion on this article's prospects as a featured article candidate. Please take conversations to the article talk page.
  • Lead: Should be two to three paragraphs long
  • Comprehensiveness: Needs material on musical style, influences, legacy (if any), critical appraisal
  • Pictures: Nice free pictures, but non-free image needs rationale; see Wikipedia:Image_description_page#Fair_use_rationale
  • Audio: Needs sound samples of significant recordings
  • References: Needs much larger references section that includes inline citations and possibly also print sources such as published biographies
  • Format/Style: Needs more text under "Discography" heading

[edit] Whistle register

I am removing Simpson's categorization as a whistle register singer. Please refer to the whistle register article for details. If you restore her categorization as a whistle register singer, please produce proof—specifically, which notes above E6 she hits in which songs. Just being able to sing high doesn't count; the whistle register is an elite and rarely-used discipline (which, consequently, can ruin one's voice if not done correctly). --C-squared 04:19, 12 March 2006 (UTC)

Yeah, it sure did ruin mariah's voice 66.210.114.195

[edit] Birthplace

Where was she born, Dallas, Waco or Abilene? At least they're all in Texas. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 08:46, 1 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Whistle

Please take her off!!!

She hit an E6 in "Your faith in me"

Hitting a whistle register on occassion does not warrant her to be listed as a WR singer.

[edit] Fired Up

Can we just say that it didn't chart? It looks better and is more accurate then To Be Recorded. If it was released in March and hasn't charted yet why not just say it didn't chart?

[edit] Net worth

Since when is Jessica Simpson worth over 79 million dollars?

According to Forbes magazine Jessica is only worth 8 million dollars. Can someone provide a link.

http://www.forbes.com/lists/2005/53/35I4.html

She doesn't have a number-one hit, there's no way she could get 79 million dollars--hottie 22:35, 22 April 2006 (UTC)
"Together they are worth $80 million, but Nick has contributed a mere $6 million. At the time of their marriage, Nick was wealthier from the boy band 98 degrees; since then, Simpson has shot to superstardom with a net worth of more than $79 million." -- These numbers don't add up; if she's worth $79m, and together they are worth $80m, then Nick's contribution must be $1m. Or their net worth is $85m. Given the Forbes source that disproves these numbers and the dubious arithmetic, I'm removing this paragraph. --duncan 15:57, 6 May 2006 (UTC)

Don't y'all know that Forbes only gives how much many they make a year. A net worth is what they have earned over the years in their careers. (UTC)

[edit] Increasingly sexual image

I think it is very relevant that Simpson started her career as a sort of pure, squeaky-clean alternative to the other female teen singers of her time, and has she has aged her image has gotten increasingly sexual, to the point where it is heavily derided. I think not mentioning this, an integral part of her fame, is very biased. Pacian 22:23, 20 April 2006 (UTC)

"be bold" and mention it Justforasecond 03:54, 7 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] IQ

On the one and the reference [[1]] states: "She's not Mensa material, but Jessica Simpson's brilliant at selling herself"

and on the other hand they claim she has an 160 IQ, more than enough to get accepted into MENSA.

Makes no sense. I think all this bull should be removed since there are no reliable references.

She don't look smart at all--LooseTheHotButtonS 14:28, 4 June 2006 (UTC)
Maybe not, but she's hotter than a charcoal briquette at Weber's Grill. 64.241.230.3 20:17, 10 July 2006 (UTC)
"hotter than a charcoal briquette"? New rules: Wikipedia can only be editted by those north of the Mason-Dixon.

You can't tell if someone is smart just because of the way they look, it just tells me how smart people are here saying things like 'she doesn't look smart'.

[edit] Joe Simpson comments

I have removed a reference allegedly made by her Dad and manager. Please don't restore it unless we have reliable sources. Capitalistroadster 20:39, 17 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Bad links?

Some of the external links, especially WMPH and possibly the other that starts with an unnecessary hyphen, appear to be spam or unhelpful. A user has been adding them to numerous dance artists's pages. I would suggest removing them, but given that this article receives more monitoring than the other articles I am removing them from, would like to leave this decision to someone more familiar with the article, as it is possible they are helpful and encyclopic and such. : ) --Roombalogin 05:02, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

I've edited the artist info at the top of the page to feature the official website. They had jessicasimpson.cc as the official page for quite some time. This website is loaded with spam and advertisements. Sites like these belong at the bottom of the page in the external links section if they are to be here at all. --wkilis 4:09, 30 October 2006 (CST)

[edit] Jessica's Full Name

Hi guys - what is Jessica's full name? The lead sentence says it is Jessica Ann Simpson while the infobox says Jessica Anna Simpson. I think it's Ann but could someone who knows please rectify this? — Sulvo 08:54, 26 August 2006 (UTC)

I thought her middle name was spelt "Anne".

[edit] Affair Rumours

Do "well publicised rumours" really have a place in an encyclopedia entry about Jessica Simpson. Perhaps if it was a well known fact that Jessica Simpson had an affair with Johnny Knoxville which then led to the dissolution of her marriage to Nick Lachey then it should be included. But seeing as it was just a rumour circulated and probably created by tabloids is it really relevant to the article?

No It is not allowed. Only information that is completely true should be included on the wikipedia articles, if you included it, it would be deleted. Jessica_simpson121

I wasn't planning on including it. It's already in the article and the reason for my question was because I believe that it should be deleted but just wanted clarification to see what others thought

Rumors shouldn't have a place on wikipedia, they are just rumors that have floated around on tabloids, far from anything factual. Once there is solid evidence besides widespread publication e.g. evidence, then it has a place here. wkilis

[edit] messed up markup?

I see lot of backslashes in this article, eg \'\'\'Jessica Ann Simpson\'\'\' which does not seem to be valid markup and apparently needs to be cleaned up. I was just wondering if anyone would be able to shed some light on what happened here? ReidarM 09:44, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Album Sales for A Public Affair

Is it just me, or is the RIAA certification of the album as Gold status wrong? Doesn't an album have to sell at least 500,000 copies before it's certified as Gold? Simpson's current album has only sold a little over half (specifically 240,000) of the 500,000 copies required to be a Gold status album.Vera26 23:33, 27 October 2006 (UTC)

They tend to give out the certifications early.66.210.114.195
Gold status is often based on the number of units shipped wholesale, not the number sold at retail. See the entry at Gold record. Hatch68 21:20, 6 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Possible source or external link

I have noticed that the statement that "the Dukes of Hazzard movie debuted at #1" has had a "needs citation" note next to it for quite awhile now. I found a webpage that backs that up and was wondering if it could possibly be used as a source or I guess at least it could be listed on the external links section. I think the site is better than a couple of the external links on there now and seeing how this article lacks any other sources and cited references an additional external link could be merited. The site is http://www.eyeballson.com/jessica_simpson/ and regarding the "Dukes #1 Box-office statement see http://www.eyeballson.com/jessica_simpson/jessicasimpsoncareerinfo.htm Also the site has a funny Jessica lookalike contest that's unique.BHFeller 06:03, 27 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Tony Romo

I noticed a few people have tried to add info about Jessica's rumored connection to Tony Romo and it gets reverted for lack of sourcing. Would http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/6192574?FSO1&ATT=HMA be an appropriate source?BHFeller 18:57, 27 November 2006 (UTC)

Nevermind. Romo squashed the rumor. See http://www.mysanantonio.com/sports/football/nfl/stories/MYSA11282006.WEBcowboysmailbag.en.321f9bca.html BHFeller 18:18, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Maxim Magazine

Why no comment some thing about Maxim magazine. She is one of the 2000s beautys. Link Jessica English

[edit] Proactive Gig

Widely believed that if Simpson is ever to become a respected A lister, she'll have to ditch the Proactive zit cream promos. Mutton Dec 10 2006 —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 69.250.29.104 (talk) 02:26, 11 December 2006 (UTC).
