Jesus and Pals
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jesus and Pals is a fictional television show within a show on South Park. It is a call-in talk show hosted by Jesus Christ.
[edit] History
When Trey Parker and Matt Stone originally started making South Park, they realized that Jesus had played a big part in its original short film, "The Spirit of Christmas", and decided to include Jesus in the South Park series somehow. So, we first see a commercial for Jesus and Pals in the episode "Weight Gain 4000". When they showed Jesus and Pals in "Big Gay Al's Big Gay Boat Ride", they received very negative responses, so they continued to show it.
However, the show has not been seen since Jesus was killed off in "Red Sleigh Down".
[edit] Appearances
- The show is first mentioned in "Weight Gain 4000" (a commercial for it).
- Jesus and Pals is then seen in "Big Gay Al's Big Gay Boat Ride"; Jesus is about to reveal his personal feelings towards gay people, but the programme is cut off by Marty's Movie Reviews.
- The show makes a brief appearance when Stan's clone crashes through the set in "An Elephant Makes Love to a Pig".
- In "Death", Stan raises the issue of euthanasia. Jesus replies, "My son, I'm not touching that with a 60 foot pole"
- In "Damien", Stan and Kyle visit the set, hoping to get Jesus to fight Satan.
- The key appearance of Jesus and Pals is in "The Mexican Staring Frog of Southern Sri Lanka" (season 2). Jesus's producer, hoping to win back viewers from Ned and Jimbo's Hunting Show, fabricates controversy between guests, and Jesus and Pals turns into a Jerry Springer-style farce. During live production of the face off between Ned and Jimbo vs. the children on Jesus and Pals, the guests and audience breakout into a brawl. Appalled, Jesus uses his own name in vain. Upon hearing that his producer lied, Jesus sends her to Hell.
- Jesus and Pals makes a small appearance in "Spontaneous Combustion", where Jesus refused to answer Stan's question about his crucifixion.
[edit] Trivia
- Jesus' in-house band is called The Disciples.
- Jesus is able to identify callers without being told who they are. When asked how, Jesus sarcastically replies, "Well, maybe because I'm the Son of GOD, Brainiac!"
