Jersey Mike's Subs

Jersey Mike's Subs is a fast-food submarine sandwich chain headquartered in Manasquan, New Jersey. The Jersey Mike's franchise has over three hundred stores in the United States.

Jersey Mike's Subs was established in Point Pleasant, New Jersey in 1956 as a neighborhood shop dedicated to serving authentic submarine sandwiches, or "subs". Subs may be known as hoagies, grinders, hero sandwiches or various other names depending on the local area.

Jersey Mike's attempts to imitate a traditional deli by slicing the meats and cheeses as needed, instead of ahead of time. Traditional ingredients and making subs to order are emphasized, as is customer interaction. Since each franchise is focused on making subs only, the shop is usually set up in a four man assembly line fashion, greatly speeding up what would otherwise be a slow process. The meats and cheeses are cut and placed on the roll, which is handed off to the "sprinkler" who dresses the sub and hands it to the wrapper, who wraps the sub in waxed paper (aluminum foil for hot subs) and places it in a paper bag to be rung up by the cashier.
