Jerry Handley
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jerry Handley was a British born bass player who originally played lead guitar. He replaced Alex St. Clair in The Omens before they both joined Doug Moon in a jamming band. Here he turned to bass guitar, having trouble tuning the higher notes of his guitar. This jamming group formed the nucleus of the original line-up of Captain Beefheart and The Magic Band. Jerry played on the Safe as Milk (1967), Strictly Personal (1968) and Mirror Man (released 1971) albums. He left the band late 1968 for family reasons.
