[edit] The Coshocton Free Enterpriser
In early 1981, after a few weeks of brainstorming with two other gentleman younger than he, Jerry founded The Coshocton Free Enterpriser. For many readers, the newspaper would have been considered an advertiser or a throw away. For the three founders, it was the "Good Newspaper" and they proclaimed just that on the front page. In the 14 years Mr. Firman was involved, the paper grew rapidly, grew total market coverage, was free and had considerable social, economic and political impact on the community. One of the first front page stories was about "two young men and an old fogey" in answers to questions about the ownership of the paper. Thus, The Old Fogey. The paper was sold in 1994 to Ad, Inc., which it is believed to of had some attachment to the Milwaukee Journal at the time.
