Jerry Bergonzi

Jerry Bergonzi (b. Boston, MA, 1947) is a jazz tenor saxophonist, composer and educator. He first gained recognition as the featured horn in the Dave Brubeck quartet during the late 1970s. His playing shows the influence of Coltrane, and his virtuosic harmonic fluency. Bergonzi teaches at the prestigious New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. Since 1992, he has written seven volumes for Advance Music on improvisation.
