Talk:Jenny Haniver

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

is there any evidence that Feejee mermaids were ever considered Jenny Hanivers? Material therefore removed. Also what evidence is there that the sailors of Antwerp have "for centuries" made such things? [unsigned]

Please sign you posts with 4 tildes (~). The 'FeeJee' mermaids were certainly Jenny Hanivers in origin, even if the name doesn't technically fit them. As for the 'centuries' comment, drawings in old books have been shown to be JHs, as have specimens in old museums and other collections. There's a chapter in one of Willey Ley's books about them, with pictures. CFLeon 00:52, 4 August 2006 (UTC)
