Jens-Peter Bonde

Jens-Peter Bonde (born on 27 March 1948 in Aabenraa) is a Danish politician and Member of the European Parliament with the Junibevægelsen party. He is co-chairman of the Independence and Democracy group in the European Parliament (with UKIP's Nigel Farage, and sits on the Committee on Constitutional Affairs. He is a substitute member of the Committee on Budgetary Control.

He frequently appears in the media to comment on EU affairs.

Jens-Peter Bonde emerges from the Danish Left of the 1970s, however he has been on the centre-left for most of the past three decades, in a bid towards a more democratic and transparent European Union. In November 2005 he was the inspiration behind the setting up of a new Party at a European level, EUDemocrats

Mr Bonde has written about 50 books in Danish on the EU, including "reader-friendly" editions of several EU treaties. In advance of the 2004 enlargement of the European Union, he also worked on translations of the EU treaties into the languages of the acceding member states. Mr Bonde has also written 5 books in English.
