Jennifer L. Holm

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jennifer L. Holm is a Newbery Honor-winning author of historical fiction for young adult readers. Most of her books focus on young women in frontier America at the end of the 19th century.

Holm was raised in Pennsylvania with her five brothers. After completing school, she worked in television and began to write. Our Only May Amelia became her first published novel and was a 2000 Newbery Honor Book. She has also written the "Boston Jane" series of books, and a horror thriller, The Creek. Holm presently lives with her husband in Brooklyn.

Our Only May Amelia has been adapted for the stage by John Olive. The River Theater in Astoria, Oregon performed it for its 2006 summer run, in conjunction with FinnFest USA '06; fitting, since the events of the play (and book) were set just north of Astoria in Naselle, Washington.
