Jenesien (German) or San Genesio Atesino (Italian) is a comune (municipality) in South Tyrol in the Italian region Trentino-South Tyrol, located about 50 km northeast of Trento and about 4 km northwest of Bolzano. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 2,828 and an area of 69.0 km2.[1]

The municipality of Jenesien contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Avigna, Valas, Cologna, and Montoppio.

Jenesien borders the following municipalities: Bolzano, Mölten, Ritten, Sarntal, and Terlan.
