Jehuty
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jehuty is the name of an orbital frame in the Playstation 2, Konami video game Zone of the Enders. It is a mecha that is primarily colored blue with some red spots and is equipped with advanced technology and weaponry. Through the game's plot, Jehuty's pilot, or Runner, is Leo Stenbuck.
Jehuty also appears in the sequel to the video game, Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner. Its design changes only slightly in this appearance. Jehuty's Runner throughout the plot of this game is Dingo Egret.
The name "Jehuty" comes from the Egyptian god "Djehuty."
[edit] Mechanics and Technology
Jehuty is one of the two most powerful orbital frames, capable of reaching escape velocity without any external aid, needing only about a minute to charge its engines. It is extremely durable, surviving the atmospheric friction of re-entry easily and without suffering any damage. Its engines also have more than enough power to force a large train (travelling at a very high speed) to stop in a very short distance.
Jehuty is supplemented with Detached Backup Battle-Unit "ADA," a highly advanced AI created by the UNSF. ADA is programmed for rationality and reason above all else. ADA is responsible for assisting the Runner, the orbital frame's pilot, in the form of advice as well as performing all non-combat related tasks in the background, such as systems maintenance and reactor control. In addition, ADA has one primary order: to self-destruct Jehuty in Aumaan at all cost. At first, ADA is cold and ruthless. However, her journey and interactions with her first Runner, a boy named Leo, teaches her more about human emotions and the value of life.
Jehuty is equipped with a Vector Trap mechanism. A Vector Trap is based on similar principals as a Urenbeck Catapult, which warps and distorts space, compressing anything inside. In the course of the two games, Jehuty counters large weapons which it could not possibly carry alone. Jehuty's carrying capacity is explained through the Vector Trap, which allows it to store all of its sub-weapons in this compressed space so as not to impede on physical movement. This is largely a plausible rationalization for the use of "hammerspace" in the game.
Jehuty has a vast array of weapons, the most primary being an energy gun and blade, both built into the right arm. It can also generate homing lasers from its hand and amass energy into burst attacks. Jehuty can also grab surrounding objects and use them as weapons and shields. Sometimes, adversaries can be grabbed and used as such. Jehuty is capable of near-infinite energy generation, and it is able to exert it in any fashion that the Runner wishes.
Like all Orbital Frames, Jehuty possesses a program called the SSA System (Self-Supporting Armor System). When Jehuty is damaged, it has a reserve amount of Metatron (a valuable ore) which allows it to instantly repair any damage that is inflicted, thus allowing Jehuty to function at full performance regardless of the amount of damage inflicted until its reserve of metatron is depleted. However, when it is struck with enough force, the SSA System fails, and the outer layer of Jehuty is left vulnerable. Automatic repair systems take a considerable amount of time when this occurs.
[edit] History and Role
Jehuty is built along with another Orbital Frame, Anubis, as part of the Aumaan Project, a design of a military fortress which would be impenetrable once complete and activated. Both orbital frames have the potential to stop Aumaan via self-destruction, though it is Jehuty who is programmed to do that.
At first, Jehuty and Anubis were twin Orbital Frames with equal power. However, during the Antilia Raid, Anubis became vastly superior than Jehuty in every imaginable way. This was due to the UNSF performing a system wipe on Jehuty just prior to the Antilia Raid, along with installing the Detached Backup Battle-Unit ADA AI onboard, in an attempt to use Jehuty to destroy Aumaan. However, BAHRAM attacked Antilia before Jehuty's original program could be restored, leaving it as a mere shell of its former self though underneath it was still the most powerful Orbital Frame in existence. During the course of Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner, Dingo meets with Lloyd, a scientist working with BAHRAM, who uploads Jehuty's original program and unlocks its original full potential, restoring Jehuty's status as the twin of Anubis. This form of Jehuty is called "Jehuty Ver.2."
When Jehuty Ver.2 faced off against Anubis inside BAHRAM's fortress on Mars, Jehuty easily defeated Anubis, almost too easily. It is soon discovered that the Anubis that Dingo was fighting against was actually a fake, with former BAHRAM Orbital Frame Runner Ken Marinaris trapped within its cockpit. The true Anubis then appears and, in a surprise attack, activates a Urenbeck Catapult linking the fortress with the true Aumaan, located on Phobos. The sudden Space Compression Wave bypasses Jehuty's defenses entirely, damaging it far beyond what its SSA System could repair. The result heavily damages Jehuty's outer armor and defensive systems, as well as destroying the rear Vector Trap, thus rendering the majority of Jehuty's sub-weapons inaccessible. This form of Jehuty is called "Damaged Jehuty."
Although Jehuty had suffered extreme damage, Dingo decides to enter the Space Compression Wave and challenge Anubis at its full strength. After a fierce battle, Jehuty bests Anubis, heavily damaging it as well as absorbing the Metatron of Anubis, adding its power to its own. Purging its now-useless outer armor, Jehuty radiates with power as it has now completely exceeded its limits, completely eclipsing Jehuty Ver.2 and Anubis. This ultimate form of Jehuty is called "Naked Jehuty."
Anubis, however, had not been completely defeated. Along with its insane Runner, Nohman, Anubis escapes into Phobos, where it links with Aumaan, summing their power. Nohman then reveals the true plan of Aumaan: to trigger a massive Compression Space Wave that would consume the entire solar system, effectively obliterating it. The final battle between the twin Frames then commences, with the fate of humanity as well as the entire solar system at stake. In the end, Dingo manages to defeat Nohman and destroy Anubis, leaving only its head. However, the victory is bittersweet, for Aumaan was already activated. ADA, seeing no alternative, prepares to self destruct Jehuty as per its original mission to deactivate Aumaan. Dingo, however, has a different idea and throws Anubis's head into Aumaan's core, using Anubis's energy signature (as it is equal to that of Jehuty) to destroy Aumaan instead of Jehuty's.
Jehuty manages to escape Aumaan successfully as it explodes, but the impact leaves catastrophic damage to its superstructure, as it is seen literally falling apart while drifting through space. After recovery, however, Jehuty, with a repaired SSA System, begins restoring all of its lost limbs, finally taking Naked Jehuty's form once again.
