Thomas W. Jeffries is a PhD microbiologist who specilizes in metabolic engineering of Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Pichia stipitis yeasts for the fermentation of five carbon sugars. He has expertise in microbial biochemistry, fermentation, yeast genetics, yeast genetic engineering, and biotechnology for the pulp and paper industry
Jeffries is a Professor in the Department of Bacteriology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Senior Research Scientist at the USDA Forest Products Laboratory in Madison, Wisconsin.
