[edit] Jeff Lopez-Stuit

I'm a resident of Tukwila, Washington, which is near Seattle. I've lived in the Pacific Northwest since 2000. Before that, I lived in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and Urbana, Illinois for most of the 1980's and 1990's. I was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1963.

I earned a Bachelor of Arts in economic and social policy from James Madison College at Michigan State University in 1984, and a Master of Public Policy from the University of Michigan in 1987. I am also certified as an Economic Development Finance Professional by the National Development Council, and have been active in the programs of Landmark Education.

Before going to work in the private sector, I worked for 15 years at the University of Michigan, and the University of Illinois. I am currently employed at a company that provides training and coaching in fundraising for non-profit organizations.

Since 2002, I have been learning to play the Turkish oud. Earlier in my life, I played the euphonium. Listening to music is one of my greatest joys in life, especially any kind of improvised music.

I am a devotee of the poetry of Walt Whitman. I think that Whitman's Leaves of Grass contains just about everything you need to know to live a good life.

In addition to Whitman, among the people who have had a profound impact on my life are Abraham Lincoln, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Jiddu Krishnamurti, John Coltrane, Jalal ad-Din Muhammad Rumi, Martin Luther King, Frank Lloyd Wright, and Cecil Taylor

My wife and I are members of Saltwater Unitarian-Universalist Church in Des Moines, WA, where I am on the board of directors.

I am married to my beautiful wife Anjali, and am parent to two rambunctious felines, including a Maine Coon.
