Jefferson Township, Logan County, Ohio

Jefferson Township is one of seventeen townships in Logan County, Ohio. It is located in the eastern portion of the county. The village of Zanesfield lies wholly within Jefferson Township. Portions of the city of Bellefontaine and the village of Valley Hi also lie within Jefferson Township, as does the unincorporated community of New Jerusalem. The 2000 U.S. Census found 2,946 people in the township.

It borders or touches the following other townships and municipalities:
- Monroe Township, on the south;
- Liberty Township, on the southwest;
- Lake Township, on the west;
- Rushcreek Township, on the north;
- Perry Township, on the east;
- Zane Township, on the southeast (touches, but does not border)

Jefferson Township was formed in 1813 from Zane Township.

The township is governed by a three-member board of trustees, who are elected in November of odd-numbered years to a four-year term beginning on the following January 1. Two are elected in the year after the presidential election and one is elected in the year before it. There is also an elected township clerk, who serves a four-year term beginning on April 1 of the year after the election, which is held in November of the year before the presidential election. Vacancies in the clerkship or on the board of trustees are filled by the remaining trustees.
