Most CNN viewers know the name and face of Jeff Koinange for his dynamic lead reporting in the continent of Africa. Yet, during CNN's in-depth coverage of Hurricane Katrina, viewers found Jeff not in Africa, but at the crossroads of Bourbon Street USA, in knee high boots and polo shirts, reporting "real time" hurricane news in the aftermath of destruction, death and chaos. He guided viewers through rain, mud and horrific, but respectful, images of the dead and the walking wounded. This was custom made reporting for a journalist and Jeff reported the good, the bad and the ugly.

According to his CNN bio ( http://www.cnn.com/CNN/anchors_reporters/koinange.jeff.html ) Jeff's experience is vast. Prior to CNN he worked for ABC NEWS, NBC NEWS, REUTERS TELEVISION covering everything from the 2002 crisis in Liberia to international/national desks to associate production. Koinange also worked with Kenya's first independent television channel KTN (Kenya Television Network). For his coverage during the crisis in Liberia he was awarded the second runner-up for HEADLINE NEWS in the USA. He graduated from Kingsborough Community College in Brooklyn , New York as a Communications Major, where he was the class Valedictorian and Captain of the Kingsborough Soccer Team he then went on to New York University to receive a Bachelor of Arts degree in broadcast journalism.
