Jeff Cravath

Newell "Jeff" Cravath (1903 – December 10, 1953) was the head coach of the USC Trojans football team from 1942-1950. He compiled a 54-28-8 record while coaching at USC. He is known to have introduced the T formation to the USC program. From 1924-1926, he played center for the USC Trojans. He became USC's first alumnus to became the head coach of that program. He was a 2005 inductee to the USC Athletic Hall of Fame. He died at the age of 50 due to an automobile accident. He was the nephew of major league baseball player Gavvy Cravath.
