Jeannie Babb Taylor

Jeannie Babb Taylor is currently the Democratic nominee for Georgia House of Representatives for the 2006 state election.

Biography Taylor was born as Jeannie Babb on February 16, 1972. Although she was born in a Chattanooga, Tennessee hospital, the family homeplace was Ringgold, Georgia. She grew up in Ringgold, where her parents were members of Burning Bush Baptist Church, and attended Catoosa County schools. Taylor graduated with honors from Ringgold High School and joined the University of Georgia honor's program. Taylor earned a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Bryan College in Dayton, Tennessee.

After several years in fulltime ministry serving troubled teens, Taylor joined the family business, Babb Lumber Company. Taylor has been the driving force behind several Georgia businesses and is a leader in the Autoclaved Aerated Concrete industry. In 1998, she married Derek Taylor, also of Ringgold Georgia. She has five daughters and a son.

Works Jeannie Babb Taylor has written articles, satire pieces, poetry and essays. She has published articles on Breastfeeding.com and Egalitarian Christian Alliance, and is a contributing author on several blogs including Femspeak and WarAgainstWomen. Taylor is also an aspiring novelist.

State House Candidacy In the spring of 2006, Taylor announced her intention to seek the Democratic nomination for the office of District 3 Georgia House of Representatives. She has built a campaign around the issues of health care, education and the economy. Taylor was unopposed in the Democratic primary election on July 18, 2006. In the upcoming Georgia general election, she will oppose incumbent Ron Forster, R-Ringgold.
